Gitaken: My Pride

This year is being over, and I have experienced so many new things during this year. Actually, I didn’t imagine that I would go to Nanzan University, so I felt disappointed and had no motivation in April. Fortunately, however, now I enjoy my life in this university. Especially, I enjoy my club: gitaken. I’m proud of being in gitaken, so let me tell you about my life in gitaken.

When I entered this university, I didn’t decide which club I was going to belong to. After a few weeks, finally I decided to belong to gitaken because I enjoyed hanami with them very much, and I liked their atmosphere. I had never played band music, so I worried about it at first. However, thanks to many seniors’ help and my efforts, now I really enjoy playing the guitar! Moreover, all members of my club like music, and I also like music, so I made many friends in my club. Put simply, gitaken is the most comfortable place for me and I really proud of being with the members!

Now, I’m practice for the next live concert, which is going to be held on Christmas Eve. I’m looking forward to it very much!

The Most URGENT Issue Japan is Facing!!!!

These days, Japan has so many issues among the world. Today, I want to write about the most urgent issue Japan is facing. In my opinion, it is the debt which Japanese government owes. Let me tell you why I think so.

First, the issue makes many other issues, such as an aging society. There are so many elders who need to get social security. However, Japan do not have enough money to ensure their lives. For example, there are many elders who live alone or take care of other elders. It is terrible issues, but government cannot do anything because they don’t have enough money. In short, the issue relate to the problem of the aging society.

 

Second, the issue won’t become better if the Japanese government do nothing. There are a few children in Japan now, so the government’s debt will be increasing. It means, the government’s outgo will be increasing but their income will be decreasing. Therefore, the issue must be solve as soon as possible. In other words, Japanese government must think about the issue more and take action in more effective ways.

In conclusion, the debt which Japanese government owes is the most urgent issue Japan is facing. Though they make our taxes higher, it isn’t enough to solve the issue at all. Some people in Japan criticize the increasing taxes, but we have to know and think about the issue.

Having a Boyfriend / Girlfriend

Christmas will coming soon. There are many people who will spend a nice Christmas day with their boyfriend or girlfriend. Now I don’t have any boyfriend, but I don’t want. I know how wonderful to be with a partner, but I disagree with having a boyfriend or girlfriend. Let me talk about why I think so.

First, if you have a partner, you always have to think about him/her. The more you love him/her, the more difficult you stay alone. For example, one of my friends sometimes tells me that she become anxious when her boyfriend talks with other girls. Though you feel so happy when you are with your partner, you feel lonely when you become alone. In other words, having a boyfriend or girlfriend sometimes make you uneasy.

 

Second, if you have a partner, you cannot use your time freely. You will want to meet with him/her and you spend many time with him/her. For example, a friend of mine, who has a boyfriend, often goes somewhere with her boyfriend and because of it, some of her friends don’t invite her to go somewhere. Moreover, if you have a partner, you also have to spend money, such as dating or to buy a Christmas present! On the other hand, if you don’t have a partner, you can spend your time and money as you want. In short, having a boyfriend and girlfriend sometimes limits you to go somewhere or buy something.

In conclusion, I disagree with having a boyfriend or girlfriend in such points. Of cause, it might be happy to have a boyfriend, but it is also hard to keep the relationship. It depends on you and your partner weather you have a boyfriend or not.

Children's Earier Start to Learn a Foreign Language (TOEFL)

Should children start learning a foreign language very fast? There are many opinions for this question all over the world. I agree with that, and let me talk the reasons why I think so.

First, to start learning a foreign language earlier improve the children’s communication skills, especially listening and speaking skills. For instance, I started learning English for the first time when I was only 4 years old. It was the time I lived in US. I was too young and I had stayed there only for a year, so I don’t remember the days I stayed there. However, I’m good at English listening and pronunciation still now. In other words, the earlier children start learning a foreign language, the better their listening and speaking skills become.

Second, to start learning a foreign language earlier help the children to become familiar with it. For example, one of my friends who has lived Japan since she was born, has studied Thai. Actually, her mother is from Thailand, but she hasn’t been Thailand so many times. However, she started learning Thai when she was really young, so she is familiar with Thai as same as Japanese. On the other hands, many children who start learning English after they enter the junior high tend to dislike English because they consider it as an unfamiliar thing. In short, the earlier children start learning a foreign language, the more familiar they become with the foreign language.

In conclusion, I believe children should start learning a foreign language very early.

Important Skills to Succeed in Modern World

Today, I’d like to write about my idea of skills that a person should have in order to succeed in the modern world.

First, communicating skills are important. It means that not only they should be able to speak some languages, but also they should be good at talking or listening. Although, now, it is often said that English skills are the most important, it is not enough. Without talking and listening skills, you cannot be good at communicate with someone from all over the world. In other words, the important communicating skills are not just to be able to speak many languages, but also to be good at talking and listening.

Second, the courtesy is important. In my opinion, even if you can communicate with many people, you cannot be succeed in the modern world without any manners. However, if you are polite, you are looked as a good person and you finally win the confidence. To be regarded as a reliable person is another important factor of getting along with many people. In short, the manner is as important as communication skills.

In conclusion, you should acquire so many skills if you want to succeed in the modern world. Globalization is going on now, and more and more people work over some countries. It seems to be difficult to make good relationship with many people from all over the world, but these skills are also important when you do it in Japan.

Does technology help our communication in family?

Today, our lives become more comfortable with development of technology. However, I disagree with the idea that technology helps us a better communication in family. Let me talk about why I think so.

First, many elders cannot master how to use technologies effectively. For example, my parents don't use smart phone still now. Moreover, they are not used to using e-mail to tell what they think correctly. For instance, I sometimes feel uncomfortable when I read some mail from my parents. Sometimes my mother misunderstood what I wanted to say in my e-mail and she became angry. This problem rarely occer with my frends, so this idea only apply to the communication with my family. In short, it is difficult for me to communicate with my family by using technologies, especially with my parents.

Second, I should value face-to-face communication with my family. If I always communicate with my family on e-mail or LINE, I think I don’t talk so much with my family at home. It means, I don’t have to talk with my family if I depend too much on e-mail or LINE. Of course, it is useful to use them, but in my case, I can see my family every day, so I should communicate with them face to face. In other words, technology make me drift away from face to face communication.

In conclusion, I don’t think technology make our family relationship better. It is sure that technology is very useful, but I think we should concern about whether the person who we want to communicate with are good at using them or not.

How I relax and enjoy my weekend

Everyone want to enjoy their weekends. Many of them, however, cannot relax or enjoy their weekend because they are too busy to rest. Now, I have a part time job on every Saturday, but I know how I can relax and enjoy. Let me talk about that.

 

First, in the morning, get up at 8 o’clock. During the weekdays, I cannot sleep enough, so I always get up little late. After that, open all windows in your room and clean the room whichever the room is clean or not. Cleaning your room in the morning make you refreshed.

 

Second, in the afternoon, do what you want to do. In my case, I practice the guitar, read comics or draw some pictures. Then, go to the gym at 3 p.m. to exercise. Exercising make you tired, but after a-few-hours exercise you must feel refreshed. In addition, when you feel tired, you can sleep well at night. I usually stay there for 2 hours, and go back home. After that, take a bath before you eat dinner. Thanks for this, you can use more free time after the dinner.

Third, at night, talk with your family. During the weekdays, I am too busy to talk with my family. Therefore, I spend time with my family on weekend. You must be happy when you are with your family. Then, all what you have to do is to go to bed early!

 

In conclusion, this is my way to relax and enjoy on weekend. Put simply, you should do what you cannot do during the weekdays.

Main Goal of This Semester

I’m very surprised now because it has been almost a half year since I entered the university. The fall semester started, and I have some goals I want to achieve. Today, let me talk about one of the goals; to get more than 3.5 point in GPA.

First, I should study harder than the last semester. Though I attended almost all the classes I took, I cannot get 3.5 point. I regretted some points in the last semester; I sometimes forgot to do my homework, slept during the class and skip my class. I reflected them a lot, so in this semester, I will do better than the last semester. In short, I attend all the class I take and study more seriously.

Second, I think I have to study without the classes. I should do my homework, of course, but I think it isn’t enough. My score in OC class isn’t good, so it is clear that I should improve my English communication skill. In order to improve such ability, I will go to the World Plaza more often. Now, I have about 25 stamps in the blonds card, so before the end of this semester, I want to get the gold card. It might be hard, but it is sure that to go to the World Plaza make my English better. In other words, I go to the World plaza many times and improve my English speaking and listening skills.

In conclusion, I want to study harder and raise my GPA scores. However, I also want to enjoy other things, such as a club activity. If I feel satisfaction both in studying and other activities after this semester, it is pretty nice, isn’t it?

 

About My Summer

The fall semester has started. Did you enjoy your summer vacation? I enjoyed it a lot, so today, let me tell you about my summer.

First, I would like to write about summer camp in my club. I belong to the guitar music club, and I play the guitar in my band. We went to Nagano prefecture in August, for 4 days. We had a concert on the third day in the camp, so we practiced for the concert. Someone in my club who really enjoyed the time with their friends didn’t practice so much and enjoyed talking or play cards with their friends. The members in my band, however, really want to improve their own skills and practiced so much, and I also did. In short, it was one of the best memories in this summer.

Second, I want to write about my part time job. I think someone who read this article think it’s weird, but for me, it’s also good memory in this summer. I regularly work part-time in cram school, and I always teach to high school students. However, during this summer vacation, I taught to elementary school students. It was difficult to teach to such a young children, but they are very powerful and I really enjoyed the part-time job. In short, my part-time work during this summer vacation was so interesting.

In conclusion, I really enjoyed this summer. However, I couldn’t some things I wanted to do, such as swimming and going to an amusement park with my friends. Therefore, I have already started planning for next vacation.

My Favorite Movie

There are many movies all over the world. I don’t watch movies so often, but last month I went to watch a movie “FROZEN” and became thrilled with it. Of cause, the story was very nice but there were more good point in that movie. Therefore, today, I want to write about why I like the movie.

First, the graphics are very beautiful. I had not watched any movies for long time, so I was surprised at the beautiful graphics when I watched the movie. For example, the characters’ faces, their actions, the views, snows and ices. The characters are very crisp and the views are real. The beautiful graphics help us to feel the characters and their impression. In short, the movie’s graphics are so beautiful that impressed me.

Second, the sounds and musics are very attractive. I watched it in English, which is the original sounds, and I think it was better than in Japanese. The best example is “Let It Go”, the most famous song in that movie. Before I watched the movie, I had heard the song only in Japanese and I did not think the song was so good. When I heard it in the movie, however, I was impressed by the song and I became a fan of the song. Put simply, the original sounds are very attractive.

In sum, the movie “FROZEN” is worse watching. It is not so difficult even in English, so if you have never watched it in English, I recommend you to watched the English one. And now, I want to watch “Maleficent”,the new disney movie.

Why Should College Students Work Part-time ?

I have worked part-time in a cram school. Many of university students have their part-time job and sometimes they are too busy to study for their classes in university. However, I think college students should have a part-time job. Let me talk about two of the reasons why I think so.

First, having a part-time job helps college students to be independent from their parents. After they entered university, they treated as an adult in many cases in society. Therefore, they should be responsible for their behavior and do many things by themselves. If they don’t have any part-time jobs, they have to depend their money on their parents. In short, college students should be independent from their parents in many ways.

Second, having a part-time job helps college students to learn about their society. Many students will get a job after they graduate from university. Therefore, they should prepare for the life in society. If they have had their part-time job during the days in college, they must be a good member of society after they get a job. In other words, part-time job is necessary for college students to study about their society.

Put simply, it is good for college students’ life to have a part-time job. It helps them to have a consciousness as a member of society.

About My Goals

Three months have passed after I entered this university. I enjoy my college life so much, but I have to learn many things to achieve my aims. I want to be an English teacher, so I want to acquire some skills to be a good teacher. Today, I want to write about goals I want to achieve in my college days.

 

First, I want to improve my English skills. I think English teachers need to be good at English with many skills, such as speaking or writing. Therefore, I want to be good at English more. Moreover, I think English teachers need to have good pronunciation, so I want to make my pronunciation better than now. In order to achieve these goals, now I study hard in Reading class and Writing class, and I often go to World Plaza to increase opportunity to talk in English. In short, I want to be better at English in academic ways.

 

Second, I want to be good at relate with many people. If I become a teacher, I have to relate with many students, parents and teachers. I’m not so good at making good relationship with people who don’t like me, but I have to be able to get along with such people. Therefore, I want to relate with many people in this college and learn how to get along with many kind of people. In other words, I want to learn the way of making good relationship with many people through my college days.

 

In conclusion, my largest aim is to be a good English teacher. In order to achieve this goal, there are many more goals to achieve. It might be little difficult to achieve some of the goals, but I try hard to achieve them.

About My Concern.....

Two months have passed since I entered the university. There are many interesting things in my campus life, but there are also some worries with me. Today, I want to write about it.

Most of my concern is about making friends. I became friends with many people in this university, but I haven’t found the people whom I can call best friends yet. When we were in high school, we had a homeroom and took classes with same classmates. In the university, however, we don’t have any homerooms and the members change from class to class. Therefore, it is difficult for me to be so friendly to someone. In short, it is more difficult to find someone who have a good connection with me in university than in high school.

Now, I have two solutions for that problem. One of the solutions is to be friends with many people and find someone who are likely to be my best friend. There are so many people in this university, so I think some of them could be good friends with me. Another solution is to join my club activities. I belong to the guitar music club and there are so many people who have same hobbies with me. Moreover, the members of the club don’t change, so it is easier to make good friends in the club than in classes. Put simply, I think my concern will be solved by time!

In conclusion, making good friends is fairly difficult. However, being with good friends make my campus life more interesting. I wish someone will be good friends with me.

My Favorite Class in Nanzan

 

There are many interesting classes in Nanzan, and I take only a few of them. Today, I want to talk about the class about linguistics. I take it in every 3^rd class in Friday. The students who take it are less than 100, I think. We learn about Japanese linguistic and the relations between other languages. Then, let me talk about why I like that class.

 

First, the subject is very interesting. I hadn’t been interested in linguistics, but through that class, I become interested in it. The theme is a little difficult, but I think it’s so interesting and worth listening. It means, linguistics is so interesting.

 

Second, the classroom is very comfortable. It’s held in DB1, which is very clean and not too large room. If it’s held in too large room, I think I cannot join the class so much. However, thanks to the size of classroom, we can say own opinion. Moreover, the professor always talk with a mic, so I can hear his voice clearly even when I take a seat in the back row. In short, we can join the class everywhere in the classroom.

 

 Third, the professor is very nice person. His name is Mr. Aoyagi and he isn’t so old; I think he is around thirty years old. He always wear nice cloths, and he looks so fasionable. Moreover, his handwriting is clean, it keeps our motivation. In other words, the professor is so nice.

 

In conclusion, I like the class of linguistic the best. Linguistics sounds a little difficult. If you know about it a little, however, I think you can understand the interest. If you are interested in this class, I will talk more about the class.

About My Best Friend !

                In my past life, I have made many friends. They are very good people, but today, let me talk about my best friend, Rin.

 

                First, I will talk about her character and personality. Her mother is from Thailand, so she is half Japanese and half Thailand. However, she looks like pure Japanese. She is more girlish than me, but we have many hobbies in common. She is very kind, and understand me more than me! I have never fight with her since we become friends; for about 11 years. Thanks to her kindness, we have been good friends with each other still now. I like her personality.

 

Second, I will talk about our history. I met her when I was in the second grade in my elementary school, and she has been my best friend. A year after we met, she had to go Germany because of her father’s job. We learned how to send e-mails that time, and we sent e-mails each other. Then she came back to Japan two years later, and we became much closer. We belonged to same club in our elementary school, our junior high, and also in our high school. Nowadays, she failed entrance exam of university last year, and now she is studying hard to next entrance exam. We promised each other to go abroad together when we were in our elementary school. We are going to make the dream come true next year, and I look forward to it.

 

               I’d like to talk more about her, but that’s all for today. She is my best friend, and I want to be best friend forever.

What I Like/Don't like about Nanzan

 

 

One mouth past since I enter Nanzan University. I haven’t known all about Nanzan yet, but I learn many about Nanzan in this one month. Today, let me talk about Nanzan.

 

              I’ll talk about what I like about Nanzan. First, Nanzan is very clean. There are many people who clean up here and there. Second, English education system is very good. This is why I chose this university to attend, and I’m happy to take so nice English classes. For example, there are many teacher from abroad and we can listen many native speaking in Nanzan. I believe it make my English listening ability better. Third, there are many clubs. I like my club a lot because I chose it among so many clubs! I’d like to find more good point in Nanzan.

 

              Then, let me talk about what I don’t like about Nanzan. First, the location; Nansan is near Nagoya University. I wanted to go there but I failed the entrance exam, so I always feel very frustrated when I pass Nagoya University. Second, there are no science course students in this campus. I like science and I wanted to take some science course classes, so I’m sorry when I knew that.

 

              In conclusion, there are many things which I like or I don’t like about Nanzan. However, I’ll go to this university for 4 years, so I want to know more good point in this university.

Kyudo

There are many traditional sports in Japan. However, globalization is going now, and many young people are not interested in traditional sports. I love kyudo, a kind of archery. Today, I’d like to talk about kyudo.

 
First, it has so long history in kyudo. For example, Confucius wrote about kyudo in his book. The more you learn about kyudo, the more you become interested in the long history. Moreover, people in many generation play it, so we can make friends with many elders..

Second, it makes us polite. There are so many rules to play kyudo, and we have to keep every rules. Therefore, we become polite naturally and get “Yamato-Damashii”!

In conclusion, playing kyudo is not only interesting but also good for our maturing. If you are interested in, you had better trying it!

About My Hometown

Today, I will write about my hometown. I live in Tajimi now, but I lived in Midori-ku, Nagoya until 2 years before now. Thus, please let me introduce about Midori-ku.

The place of Midori-ku is southeast in Nagoya city. The town is very nice place to live in, and today, I talk about 3 good points about my hometown.

First, there is many place which remain the nature. For example, Takinomizu Park is one of the famous night view spot in Nagoya. But on daytime, there are many trees and plants, so we can feel relax if we go there. There is rare place which we can feel nature in Nagoya.

Second, the town has good environment of education. There are many parents who have a fervor for education, and there are many kind of cram school. Therefore, there are many young families live in there.

Third, the town is very convenient to access large shopping mall. Have you ever heard about “AION MALL in Odaka”? It is in Midori-ku.

In conclusion, I think Midori-ku is the best city to live in Nagoya!

Self-Introduction

 Let me introduce myself.

My name is Kyoko. I live in Tajimi now, but I lived in Midori-ku, Nagoya until I was in the 2^nd grade in high school. So, I’m not so familiar with Tajimi. When I was in a kindergarten, I lived in Seattle, U.S. for about a year. I already forgot almost everything about my life in Seattle, but I love U.S. and English still now.

              I have two older brothers. The oldest brother, who was 11 years old when we lived in Seattle, is good at English. He goes to Tokyo University of Foreign Studies now. I want to be able to speak English so fluently like him. And I also want to go to Seattle again.

              My hobby is listening to music. I like rock music the best. My favorite musicians are BUMP OF CHICKEN, androp and [Alexandros].

I love them and their all songs! When I was in my high school, I played kyudo. So playing kyudo is my hobby, too.

              Now, I go to driver’s school in Tajimi. It’s not easy for me to drive, but I want to be able to drive and drive to many places! I try hard to get my driver license.

              At last, I want to make many friends! Nice to meet you.
